Bio: Edward A. Barros is a professional member of the AIBD as well as an associate member of the AIA (American Institute of Architects). Ed has been designing large additions, alterations and new homes with Connecticut Architects since 1984. Educated and trained by Architects and Architectural schools he has received a degree in Architectural and Building Construction from Vermont Technical College as well as a Bachelor of Science in Design from Arizona State University. He attended the University of New Mexico where he studied South-Western Architectural history, style and construction. Ed has been an adjunct professor at Norwalk Community College where he has taught computer aided drafting and design to architectural students and local architects.

BDS llc provides design and construction document services for complete home or small room additions, alterations, porches, garages, finish basements, speculative homes, and custom home designs. BDS llc specializes in creating consistent, accurate, and economically affordable design and construction documentation for individual project needs. Bio: Donald Carey has been a builder/designer for 30 years. His plans have been praised by contractors and building officials alike for thoroughness and attention to detail. He holds a BS from the University of Connecticut and Master’s from the University of Hartford. He is NAHB certified as Certified Graduate Builder, Graduate Master Builder and Certified Aging in Place Specialist. His practice includes litigation support services for construction disputes and service as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and Better Business Bureau.

Knowing how to build makes a designer better at his profession. From over 400 projects, notable ones include: Passive solar homes, a temperature-critical testing laboratory, vacation homes, small and smart homes, and energy saving retrofit projects.

Describe your typical project: Our projects are typically highly detailed, custom residences. Our projects include both new home design and renovation and alteration design projects. We believe that every home is worthy of good design no matter what the size or budget. With this in mind we are as at home working with clients to design homes of a grand scale whose budgets allow them to chose from the most expensive lists of materials as with those whose budgets are more modest but value good design and are willing to spend the time to express their own personalities in smaller, well thought out and finely detailed homes.

Our projects vary in style but tend toward more traditional design styles, shingle style, arts and crafts style and coastal projects. We offer clients a complete design package, from preliminary design through construction documents and often also assist clients in material and finish selections such as tile, lighting, plumbing fixtures, heating systems and much more. Bio: Construction Design LLC is mainly a new home construction plan service. Working prints can be generated from scratch for people who would like their own custom design, or a print may be chosen and modified from our library of approximately 2,000 different designs. Most of the stock designs range in size from 1,000 to 5,000 square feet. There are cape, colonial, ranch, contemporary, chalet, hip roof and more styles to choose from.

With 57 years experience in residential and light commercial construction, Ken Lynch, President of K M Building Consultants, brings a depth of knowledge to building construction that few others can match. In the past 35 years Ken has built over 20 high quality homes in Fairfield County and successfully completed hundreds of residential and commercial additions and remodeling projects.

Seven years ago, Ken attended the prelicensure program for building officials with the state of Connecticut and is a licensed building official. This knowledge of the Connecticut building codes helps in making the building design more accurate.

Ken has taken all this experience and incorporated it into the building designs he creates. He knows what it takes to build a house or an addition and what it takes to do repairs and replace structures.

All building designs are created with Chief Architect, a computer aided design (CAD) software. Ken produces complete designs including floor plans, elevations, section details, and framing details, as well as, 3-D illustrations.
